Code 128 barcodes are widely used thoughout the shipping and distribution industry. They are also used for inventory, ID, and tracking purposes. Code 128 barcodes are part of many labeling specifications. GS1-128 is an example of this.

Code 128's character set supports the lower 128 ASCII characters (hence the name Code 128). Code 128 can be used to encode both upper and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation, and several non-typeable control codes. All Code 128 bar codes include a mandatory mod 103 check digit to insure data integrity. Code 128 is much denser than Code 39 barcodes and takes up less space.

C128Tools supports code set A, code set B, code set C, and GS1-128 barcodes. It includes five different fonts in TrueType and Type 1 PostScript format. Changing between the various fonts allows you to alter the width of a bar code, while changing the point size alters the symbol's height.
