code 39 and code 39 full ascii
"Code39 barcodes" are often called "Code 39 barcodes". The name comes from the fact that three of the nine elements in each character are wide (instead of narrow). Code39 is sometimes called Code 3 of 9 for this very reason.
Code 39 barcodes can contain both numbers and letters. There are 43 characters that can be used, the 44th being the asterisk reserved for the start and stop bars. The lower 128 ASCII characters can be encoded in a Code 39 Full ASCII symbol. Full ASCII Code 39 barcodes use pairs of characters to encode things that aren't in the standard 44 character version of Code 39.
