Printing Interleaved 2 of 5 Bar Codes in Excel

When you need to print Interleaved 2 of 5 bar codes in your Excel project, the easiest thing to do is to use our Excel plugin after you’ve installed our fonts on your computer.

Download AzaleaBarCodes.xla and place it into your XLSTART folder (Program Files/Microsoft Office/OFFICE11/XLSTART or OFFICE12\XLSTART). Put barcode.dll into either your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 or \WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory, depending on what version of Windows you’re using.

Open your Excel spreadsheet that has the data you want to encode.

Choose the column that contains the cells that you want to encode into bar codes. Here, our input data column is Column A.

Insert a new formula

Select B1 or whatever cell you want to contain the bar code symbol and then type the equal sign “=”.

Once you’ve done that, the available functions drop-down will become active (black arrow above A1 cell). Note that you also may do this and all following by going to Insert in the menu bar and then choose Function.

Name your formula

Choose “More functions” and a second window will pop up containing the “User defined” functions. You’ll see all of the Azalea functions; in this case we’re concerned with the I2of5 function; please select “AzaleaI2of5”. Click OK.

Name your formula

Provide the “argument”, which means your input cell. In our sample, it’s the content of cell A1. Click the OK button.

Enter a database field name

Select formula name

Choose the cell where the output is, in this case B1. Open the “Format” menu, pick the option for “Cell,” and then click the “Font” tab. Select an Azalea Interleaved2of5 font and choose your desired point size.

Select formula name

It’s a good idea to center the bar code; to do so, click the “Alignment” tab and choose Center for both horizontal and vertical.

Select Edit and then Fill and Down. You can also highlight the cell at the top of the column and press the Shift and Enter keys together.

Select formula name

Select A1-A4 / B1-B4 and then File, followed by Print and then Preview.

Select formula name

Your print preview will come up and it should look like this. Once you’re ready to print your barcodes, press “Print.” If the output result differs or you see boxes or odd characters in the preview, please send a screenshot to technicalsupport at azalea dot com and we’ll be happy to help you get it sorted out.
