If you are printing barcodes from within a Crystal Reports project, the easiest thing to do is to use our free User Function Library (UFL) along with our TrueType fonts. Our UFL adds the start and stop bars (the asterisk in Code 39) to your input string. You can also use the UFL to create Full ASCII Code 39 symbols that include lowercase letters.
1. By default, the C39Tools setup program installs the files you need to use the fonts with Crystal Reports.
2. In Crystal Reports menu, create a new formula.

3. Name your formula.

4. Click twice on the BarcodeC39 function name. Click twice on field name.

5. Save and exit the formula editor.

6. Drag an instance of your formula on the form. Size it. Format the text using one of our fonts, for example, Code39HalfInch font at 36 points.

7. Now you're ready to run your report.
