Printing UPC, ISBN-13, EAN & JAN barcodes in Crystal Reports
When you need to print barcodes from your Crystal Reports project,it’s fast and easy when you use Azalea Software’s free User Function Library (UFL) along with our TrueType fonts. Our CrystalReports UFL adds the start and stop bars to your input string, calculates the necessary check digit, and then it creates output in our fonts’ character set. It’s necessary to use the UFL to make UPC bar codes because you cannot simply format a chunk of text in a bar code font and expect to create a scannable bar code symbol. Azalea’s UFL does all of the heavy lifting for you instead.
1. As long as you followed the default install in UPCTools for Windows, the installer will install the files you need to use the fonts with Crystal Reports. You just need to open the CrystalReports file with the information you need to make into barcodes.
2. In your Field Explorer in Crystal Reports, make a new formula.

3. Give your formula a name.

4. Double-click the BarcodeUPCA function name (or other listed UPC supported function name then double-click on your field name.
Note: if you making a UPC or EAN barcode without supplemental bars, add double quotes to your function. (BarcodeUPCA({Mytable.MyField}, "")

5. Choose Save and Exit from the formula editor.

6. Format the field in one of Azalea’s UPC barcode fonts. In this example, we’ll use UPCTall at 72 points.

7.You’re ready to run your report with integrated UPC or EAN/JAN barcodes!

8. Once you’re ready to print your barcodes, choose “print” and send your report to a local printer as usual. If the output result differs or you see boxes or odd characters, please send a screenshot to technicalsupport at azalea dot com and we’ll be happy to help you get it sorted out.
As always, if you have any questions contact us via email at technicalsupport at azalea dot com
